Help Frankfort Fire Answer Every Call
When the call comes, there is no time to wait. A heart attack. A house fire. A serious crash. A child who cannot breathe. Frankfort firefighter/paramedics answer these calls every day, and they are there when seconds matter most. Since 2005, emergency calls have nearly doubled, while the number of firefighter/paramedics has stayed almost the same. Since August alone, our community has seen two tornadoes and three house fires. When emergencies happen at the same time, every available firefighter, paramedic, ambulance and fire engine matters. And the calls are not slowing down. Our firefighters and paramedics need our help to keep us all safe.
Help Frankfort Fire Protect Our Hometown
Our firefighters/paramedics have not asked for a rate increase since 2000. During that time, the number of emergency calls increased, along with the cost of maintaining emergency vehicles, equipment and facilities. For 26 years, Frankfort Fire made it work by operating below recommended staffing levels, buying used fire engines, and repairing ambulances rather than replacing them. These choices saved taxpayers real money, but the demand for emergency services has increased to the point that additional funding is necessary to maintain the level of protection our community deserves.
Fire, rescue and emergency medical services protect our families, homes and community and are also an important part of maintaining property values and the quality of life residents expect in our community. Now is not the time for us to fall behind our neighbors.
Ensure We Can Send Enough Help
Our firefighter/paramedics are being asked to do more with inadequate levels of staffing. None of Frankfort's five stations is staffed at the full level called for in national standards. Station 73 has only two firefighters/paramedics and no ambulance. When the ambulance at Station 74 is on a call, no one is left to man the fire engine, and Frankfort must rely on assistance from neighboring fire departments to respond to emergencies where seconds matter.
It’s not enough.
Recently, Frankfort Fire responded to three house fires, where the first crew to arrive was two firefighters. National standards call for a minimum of four firefighters for a very crucial reason: two firefighters cannot enter a burning home unless there are two more outside, ready to rescue them if needed. Our firefighters did everything right, but there were simply too few to respond.
This proposal puts a full crew on the engine and the ambulance at every station, every hour of every day, with the training and life-saving technology they need to handle any kind of emergency.

Our firefighter/paramedics have answered every call for 26 years without asking for more. On November 3, we can make sure they never have to answer one short-handed again.

Grace Period Registration and Voting
All Early Voting locations offer Grace Period Registration for individuals who need to register to vote for the first time or to submit a change of address. To participate in Grace Period Registration, two forms of identification are required, one of which must show the voter’s current address. Those who participate in Grace Period Registration must cast their ballots at the same time they register.
